Mahama dissolves boards of state institutions

The Office of the President has announced the termination of appointments to statutory boards, corporations, commissions, and councils following the inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama.

This decision aligns with the provisions of the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845).

In a statement issued by Acting Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, it was clarified that all individuals appointed to these entities by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo or a previous Minister of State ceased to hold office as of January 7, 2025, the day President Mahama was sworn in.

The statement further noted that the reconstitution of the affected boards, councils, commissions, and corporations will occur in due course, in accordance with their governing laws.

“For the avoidance of doubt, this directive does not apply to commissions that are independent constitutional bodies,” the release specified.

President Mahama also expressed his appreciation to all outgoing members for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavors.

Additionally, the statement directed the management of these statutory bodies to seek clearance from the Chief of Staff before making any further decisions until their respective boards are reconstituted.
