It won’t be business as usual, you’ll be held accountable – Mahama to appointees

President John Dramani Mahama has delivered a strong message to prospective appointees, emphasizing that they will be held to the highest ethical and professional standards.

Speaking at the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), on Sunday, January 12, 2025, President Mahama cautioned those aspiring to public office to be prepared for a demanding responsibility.

“Anyone appointed to public office must understand that they will be held to the highest ethical and professional standards,” he stated. “So, to those of you sending me your CVs, know that this will not be an easy job, and it certainly will not be business as usual.”

He reiterated the importance of integrity and accountability in governance, emphasizing that public officials are custodians of the nation’s resources and trust.

“We will govern with the understanding that we are stewards of the resources and trust bestowed upon us by the sovereign people of Ghana,” Mahama said, urging appointees to prioritize the nation’s interests and adhere to the principles of good governance.
