President John Dramani Mahama has refuted claims of tension between his administration and the judiciary, reaffirming his government’s commitment to working collaboratively with the legal fraternity.
Addressing the issue during a meeting with the Ghana Bar Association on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, Mahama sought to dispel perceptions of discord, emphasizing that his administration values a strong partnership with the judiciary to enhance governance.
“Government is open to working with you, particularly on our side of the political divide. There’s a perception that we have issues with the legal fraternity, but that is not the case,” Mahama stated.
He highlighted the presence of legal professionals within his administration, including Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, as a testament to the government’s respect for the judiciary.
“We do not harbor any animosity toward the judiciary or the legal profession,” he reiterated. “Our doors remain open for collaboration.”
