The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted Adams Mahama Issahaku, Headmaster of Piina Senior High School in the Upper West Region, following a directive from the Director-General of the Service.
The interdiction, which takes immediate effect, is linked to an ongoing investigation regarding food items discovered in Mr. Issahaku’s official pick-up vehicle while he was traveling from Piina SHS to Wa on Thursday, February 6, 2025.
In a letter dated February 7, 2025, and signed by Razak Z. Abdul-Korah, Upper West Regional Director of GES, the Service emphasized that the action is a standard procedural measure and does not imply guilt.
Ongoing Investigation and Next Steps
The GES has assured all stakeholders of a thorough and impartial investigation, after which Mr. Issahaku will be informed of the findings and any subsequent decisions.
As part of the directive, he has been instructed to hand over the administration of the school and all related property to the Upper West Regional Director of Education.
Additionally, Mr. Issahaku has been urged to:
• Fully cooperate with the investigation.
• Make himself available whenever required.
• Refrain from any actions that could interfere with the investigative process.
Commitment to Transparency and Accountability
The GES reaffirmed its commitment to upholding transparency and accountability in the education sector. It called on Mr. Issahaku and all relevant parties to comply with the directives to ensure a smooth and fair investigation.
