National Security Uncovers US Dollars, Gold Bars, and Counterfeit Currency in Warehouse Raid

In a high-profile intelligence-led operation, Ghana’s National Security has seized a large stash of US dollars, gold bars, and counterfeit Ghanaian currency hidden in a warehouse within the Ga South Municipality.

Acting on a tip-off, security operatives tracked twelve 20-foot shipping containers to a secret location in Sapeiman, where they uncovered the illicit haul, cleverly concealed in wooden boxes.

The bust has triggered a nationwide manhunt for four key suspects, including a notorious ringleader identified only as “Alhaji.”

Massive Cash and Gold Seizure

The operation, executed with precision, revealed a substantial amount of cash, including both genuine US dollars and counterfeit Ghanaian cedi notes in GH¢50 and GH¢100 denominations. Some of the illicit funds were carefully packed in wooden boxes, reinforced with plywood, and sealed with charcoal to avoid detection.

In a more shocking twist, operatives also discovered multiple metal boxes suspected to contain gold bars, raising further concerns about an extensive smuggling and money laundering syndicate.

Unaccounted Containers and Military Impersonation Plot

Investigators report that two out of the twelve containers remain missing, prompting National Security to deploy state security trackers to locate them.

Adding to the intrigue, authorities also uncovered counterfeit Ghana Army uniforms and boots inside the warehouse, suggesting a possible fraudulent military impersonation scheme.

Nationwide Manhunt and Investigation

Security forces have launched an extensive nationwide manhunt for the prime suspects, determined to dismantle what they suspect to be a highly organized financial crime network.

Authorities have warned that as investigations continue, more arrests are expected, potentially uncovering deeper layers of illegal operations.
