Student in viral machete bullying video handed over to Police – Accra Academy

The management of Accra Academy Senior High School has responded to concerns following a viral video showing a student assaulting a colleague with a cutlass.

In a statement sighted by Prismore Writes Global on Sunday, the school confirmed that the incident occurred on January 17, 2024, but was not reported to authorities until the video surfaced on social media.

The school has since identified all students involved and contacted their parents. The student responsible for the act has been handed over to the police for further investigation.

Additionally, management stated that all students implicated in the incident, who are day students, have been asked to stay away from school while investigations continue.

The individuals involved include:

• Perpetrators: Shadad Aliu (a.k.a. Kester, IVA 1), Haleem Jibril (a.k.a. Chopper, 3Bus 5), Ahmed Dauda (a.k.a. Foreigner, 3GA 5), and Richard Ninsin (a.k.a. Poisonous, 3GA 5).

• Victims: Samuel Ussher (1Sc 10), Kingsford Quayson (1Sc 10), Stephen Oteng (1Sc 10), and Dominic Awuku Adjei (1GA 2).

Preliminary investigations revealed that the machete used was brought from home and not obtained from the school. The case is currently being reviewed by the school’s disciplinary committee, and all stakeholders will be updated on the outcome.

The school assured parents and guardians that it is taking the matter seriously and remains committed to addressing the situation swiftly and effectively.
