President Mahama names Haruna Iddrisu Education Minister-designate, Agbodza for Roads

 



President John Dramani Mahama has unveiled a new lineup of ministerial nominees, reflecting his vision for effective governance and national development.

Among the notable appointments is Haruna Iddrisu, a seasoned politician and former Minority Leader in Parliament, who has been nominated to lead the Education Ministry. His extensive legislative experience is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the sector.

For the critical Roads and Highways Ministry, Governs Kwame Agbodza has been nominated. With infrastructure development and national connectivity as key priorities, his leadership is anticipated to drive progress in this vital sector.

In the agriculture sector, Eric Opoku has been designated as the Minister for Food and Agriculture. Known for his expertise in rural development, Opoku is expected to focus on enhancing food security and supporting farmers across the country.

A newly created Ministry for Youth Development and Empowerment will be spearheaded by Opare Addo, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Organizer. This ministry will focus on addressing unemployment and fostering innovation among Ghana’s youth through targeted policies and programs.

Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare has been nominated to lead the Ministry for Trade and Agribusiness, where her mandate will include strengthening Ghana’s trade relations and promoting agribusiness as a driver of economic growth.

For the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim has been nominated. His role will involve fostering collaboration among local authorities, traditional leaders, and religious organizations.

Finally, Emelia Arthur has been tapped to head the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture, where her leadership will focus on sustainable practices and supporting the fishing community.

These nominations reflect a strategic approach to governance, aimed at addressing key sectors crucial to Ghana’s development.
