President John Dramani Mahama has delivered a stark evaluation of Ghana’s current situation, declaring that the country is facing a severe crisis.
In his first State of the Nation Address of his second term, presented to Parliament on Thursday, February 27, Mahama was candid about the nation's economic struggles.
“I am sad to report that the state of our nation is not good,” he stated, emphasizing the deep economic challenges and the hardships confronting Ghanaians.
He highlighted the upcoming National Economic Dialogue, set for March 3rd and 4th, and the Finance Minister’s budget presentation on March 11th as key moments that will provide a comprehensive assessment of the crisis and explore potential solutions.
Despite the difficult circumstances, Mahama reaffirmed his determination to tackle the crisis, recognizing the responsibility entrusted to him by the people.
“Mr. Speaker, it is not my style to lament and shift blame when confronted with challenges,” he said. “I have therefore not come here to lament on the state of our country, though there is much to lament about.”
