Former President John Dramani Mahama has assured the youth of Ghana that the future of the country is in their hands, promising that his next administration will focus on creating opportunities for them to excel in their respective fields. Speaking at the launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s Youth Manifesto at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Monday, August 12, 2024, Mahama emphasized the critical role that young people play as catalysts for positive change.
In his address, Mahama urged the youth to see themselves as the driving force behind the transformation Ghana needs. He highlighted the importance of their actions and determination in shaping the nation’s future, encouraging them to dream big and strive for greatness.
“You are the catalyst for positive change, and through your inspiring actions and determination, we can bring about the transformational change that our world and our country desperately need," Mahama stated. "Young people, remember always to dream big, remember always to aim high, and remember always to strive for greatness. The power you wield as a young Ghanaian is immense and powerful.”
Mahama further reiterated that by unleashing their potential and embracing their destiny, the youth of Ghana could make a global impact. He stressed that the future of the nation lies in their hands and affirmed his commitment to supporting them every step of the way in realizing their full potential.
“Understand that the future of our nation lies in your hands, and we’re committed to supporting you every step of the way in realizing your full potential. Young people are the driving force behind sustainable development, and your voices need to be heard loud and clear,” he added.
The former President also announced that he was keen to listen to the concerns of the youth to better understand and help shape their aspirations. To this end, he revealed plans to engage with young Ghanaians later that evening in a special event.
“And this is why I’ve decided, in addition to this function on International Youth Day, to host the Mahama Youth Town Hall meeting later tonight at the Bukom Boxing Arena. Through this one-of-a-kind event, I will engage with young people directly and listen to your concerns and aspirations. Your vote as a young Ghanaian is not just a choice but is a powerful tool for shaping the future of our country,” Mahama concluded.
With these words, John Dramani Mahama has once again positioned himself as a leader focused on youth empowerment, pledging to prioritize the concerns and aspirations of young Ghanaians in his vision for the country's future.
